About Clover Radiance
A small set of free calculators for people who make soap, lotions and balms at home.
What it does
Clover Radiance has four tools: a soap lye calculator that works out sodium or potassium hydroxide, water and fragrance for a set of oils; a lotion formula calculator that keeps a formula at 100 % and turns it into grams; a recipe batch scaler that resizes any recipe and rounds it to your scale; and an oil properties chart with the data behind the lye calculator.
How it works
Everything is calculated by JavaScript in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server: there are no accounts, and recipes you save stay in your browser's local storage until you delete them. The privacy page lists exactly what is stored.
Where the numbers come from
SAP values, fatty-acid profiles, iodine and INS values are the typical figures from the SoapCalc oil list, checked against the published ranges of saponification values. The lye safety advice follows the NIOSH Pocket Guide, a manufacturer's safety data sheet, US Poison Control and the NHS. Each tool page names its sources, so you can check them yourself.
What it cannot do
A calculator does arithmetic. It cannot see the oil in your jug, the purity of your lye or a typo in a box. It cannot tell whether a product is safe for your skin, whether an emulsion will hold or whether a preservative works in your formula, and nothing here is medical advice or a claim about what a product will do for skin. Double-check every soap recipe with a second lye calculator, follow your suppliers' data sheets and usage rates, and check the rules before you sell anything you make.
The site is independent: it is not linked to any supplier, and it does not sell ingredients or take commissions.
